Team Live Badass training day

Another trainging day for Team Live Badass this past Sunday.

We met at 9:00 at the high school/middle school complex and it was already hot out. High for the day would end up at 100°. We walked around the place a bit, looking at and testing out some potential obstacles. Did some warm-up lunges and stretching, then the main warm-up, 1/4 mile jog, 15 burpees, then another 1/4 mile. After a short break and some fluids we started off for what was to be a 5k run.

Here is the route we were going to take.

From start to finish is about 1.6 miles, making the round trip almost exactly 5k.

Unfamiliar with the area, we missed our turn and instead ended up taking this route.

About 2 miles from start to finish, making the round trip about 4 miles.

The most I've ran before this was about 2 miles, so this was a tough one. But we pushed through hard and we wouldn't have stopped, but we ran Dave's dog (Parker) out and had to stop for a minute to let him rest in the shade.

(Don't worry kids, Parker is fine, he knows when he has to stop and we gave him plenty of water).

Dave had originally planned for us to run the 5K route twice that day, but with the temps in triple digits, it wasn't happening. So, after we got back and cooled down, we put Parker in the a nice cool spot and struck out for the obstacles we had scouted before.
